SIMONE IMAANI WILLIAMS

Simone Imaani Williams is a Brooklyn-based fashion designer known for her bold prints, textured materials, and expertise in runway and Caribbean carnival design. A self-taught artisan, she blends sustainability with striking aesthetics, creating original, culturally rich fashion.

Simone's journey into fashion began after leaving a role at a well-known media agency in August 2018 to pursue continuing education classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). She completed courses in Adobe Illustrator and Fashion Sketching as part of FIT’s Computer Essentials for Fashion Design Certificate Program, which was later dissolved during COVID. Shortly after, she launched Simone Imaani LLC, gaining recognition for her craftsmanship and innovative designs.

Her dedication and talent earned her a spot in the BKLYN Fashion Academy, where she debuted Herero Women of Namibia in collaboration with Microsoft, showcasing a technology-infused ready-to-wear Spring/Summer capsule. In 2020, she set the Guinness World Record for the largest female afro, further amplifying her influence in the beauty and fashion industries.

Simone has expanded her work beyond carnival and runway, becoming the go-to seamstress in her community of professional women, designing custom garments for career milestones, bridal couture, and special life engagements. She has created bespoke designs for high-profile events, including a custom garment for the 2024 Country Music Awards (CMAs). She also participated in the Shoot For the Stars Gala and was selected to work on a forthcoming clothing line set to launch in Summer 2025.

In the carnival industry, Simone has held key roles such as Head Seamstress for One Island and Carnival Operations Director for Sesame Carnival, managing costume development, fittings, and large-scale production logistics. With a B.S. in International Business (Spanish minor) from SUNY Plattsburgh, she continues to push the boundaries of fashion, merging craftsmanship with cultural storytelling.
