Saint Trey W is a Black queer poet, essayist, and organizer from Brooklyn, New York. His work is rooted in the Black radical tradition, steeped in spirit, and born from both grief and glory. He weaves resurrection and rebellion, memory and myth, into work that is both protest and prayer. His voice emerges from the Black radical tradition and a queer, evolving faith—unafraid to question, praise, or burn what must be buried.
Influenced by the lyric fire of Danez Smith, the spiritual searching of Ocean Vuong, the prophetic clarity of James Cone, and the radical love of bell hooks, his voice also carries the literary legacy of Toni Morrison, James Baldwin, and Ta-Nehisi Coates. His writing is deeply political—questioning empire, mourning the dead, celebrating queer joy, and asking again and again: How do we get free?
His debut collection, Resurgo, is a testimony in seven parts. You can find more of his work at @sainttreyw and sainttreyw.substack.com.
